Disclaimer
Derawan Seaplane Charter is an independent coordination desk, not an airline. Derawan is listed among Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation’s 8 priority seaplane locations (per operator deck, 2026), but no specific approved water-landing site, water aerodrome or scheduled service has been publicly confirmed for Berau or the Derawan archipelago as of September 2026. Every flight, transfer and wildlife sighting mentioned on this site depends on operator approval, permits, aircraft availability and weather, and can be delayed, rerouted or cancelled without notice.
Read this page before you request a quote or send a deposit. It explains what this website is, what it is not, how prices and third-party figures should be read, how your personal data is handled, and what happens if a trip changes or falls through.
What does this website actually offer?
This site is a coordination and information service for a derawan seaplane charter. It describes the Kalimarau Airport (BEJ) gateway to Derawan, Maratua, Kakaban and Sangalaki, the boat and road transfer options that already run in the region, and the possibility of arranging a seaplane charter with a licensed operator. It does not sell scheduled tickets, does not operate aircraft, and does not guarantee that any specific route, date or price will be available.

Is there a scheduled seaplane service or government priority status for Derawan?
Partly, and the two parts should not be confused. Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation has named Derawan (East Kalimantan) as one of 8 priority seaplane and water-landing locations nationwide, alongside Mandalika, Menjangan, Labuan Bajo, Kupang, Raja Ampat, Lake Toba and Riau, according to an operator introduction deck published by Santai Seaplane in 2026. That designation is a policy signal of intent, not an operating permit.
As of September 2026, no source publicly documents a completed water aerodrome, a named water-landing regulation, a confirmed touchdown site, or a scheduled timetable for seaplane operations to Derawan, Maratua, Kakaban or Sangalaki. Maratua is the only island in the group with a land airstrip, reported as served twice weekly by Wings Air; Derawan, Kakaban and Sangalaki have no airport and are normally reached by road from Kalimarau Airport to Tanjung Batu (about 2 to 2.5 hours) followed by speedboat (roughly 30 minutes to Derawan, about 1 hour to Kakaban, and about 2 hours to Maratua or Sangalaki).
Small-aircraft and amphibious arrivals into East Kalimantan waters are practiced elsewhere in Indonesia by the same class of operator, but a water landing on any given Derawan trip is always subject to operator approval, the pilot-in-command’s judgement, applicable Indonesian aviation authority permits, and conditions on the day. Nothing on this site should be read as confirmation that a fixed water-landing site, published timetable or completed regulatory approval already exists for Berau or the Derawan archipelago; treat the priority-list designation as a documented step toward future service, not as proof that service is running today.
Are flights, transfers and dates guaranteed once I inquire?
No. A quote request or itinerary draft is not a confirmed booking. Confirmation depends on:
- Aircraft, pilot and slot availability from the licensed operator we contact on your behalf
- Weather and sea conditions at Kalimarau, Berau’s coastal waters, and the destination island
- Valid permits and clearances held by the operator, which we do not issue and cannot override
- Payment and documentation being completed on the terms the operator sets, not on terms this website invents
Because Juara Holding Group does not own or fly aircraft, any change, delay or cancellation made by the licensed operator is the operator’s decision. We will relay updates and help you re-arrange the itinerary, but we cannot force a flight to depart in unsafe or non-permitted conditions, and we will not ask an operator to do so on your behalf.
Are whale sharks, manta rays or jellyfish sightings guaranteed?
No wildlife encounter is guaranteed on any trip referenced on this site. Kakaban’s landlocked lake is documented as home to four species of non-stinging jellyfish, and Sangalaki is known for manta ray sightings and a turtle conservation centre, but sightings are seasonal, weather-dependent and reported by operators rather than certified by any fixed schedule. Treat every wildlife reference on this site as “commonly reported, never guaranteed,” including whale-shark mentions, which have no published calendar, location tariff or regulation attached to them as of September 2026.
Are the prices shown official tariffs?
No published seaplane charter price, per-hour rate, fuel surcharge or landing fee for a Berau-to-Derawan route is verified anywhere as of September 2026. Any seaplane figure quoted to you is on request, from the operator we coordinate with, and can change between the date of a quote and the date of travel. Where this site cites third-party benchmarks — for example, boat-based trip pricing from other regional operators — each figure carries the date it was recorded and should be treated as a reference point, not a current, bookable rate. Always confirm the final price, inclusions and payment schedule in writing before transferring any deposit.
Is this site aviation, legal, financial or tax advice?
No. Nothing on this site is aviation guidance, legal advice, financial advice or tax advice. Juara Holding Group is not a licensed aviation authority, law firm, financial adviser or tax consultant. Mentions of Indonesian visa categories (e-VOA, B211A, Second Home Visa, remote-worker visa, Golden Visa) are background context only; confirm current requirements with Indonesia’s immigration authority or a licensed visa agent before you travel. For any decision involving safety, contracts, investment or tax, consult a qualified, licensed professional in the relevant field.
